Abstract:Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) may be utilized for quick DEM acquisition in order to meet the requirements of quick terrain data acquisition in large oil and gas pipeline projects. Discussed are two key issues in quick DEM acquisition of linear LiDAR data in large oil and gas pipeline projects: filter and DEM construction. For linear data of hilly areas with much vegetation, applied is the filtering algorithm based on slope change for original point cloud filtering, applied is the irregular triangle nets linear interpolation algorithm for processing filter results and establishing DEM, applied are a set of linear LiDAR data for conducting experiment and the experimental results are compared with the measured data. Section line of the pipeline route is collected from the established DEM and its results are basically consistent with the measured data of the terrain.
