Abstract: In order to develop natural gas field containing mercury reasonably and optimize natural gas purification process design,it is necessary to make clear the distribution rule and influence factors of mercury and its compounds in natural gas treatment process. Adopted is the steady-state process simulation software VMGSim to simulate the throttling refrigeration process of J-T valve used in natural gas field containing mercury, studied are the effects of mercury content in feed gas,gas treatment capacity, glycol injection rate, feed gas composition and J-T valve refrigeration temperature on mercury removal rate. The results show that the heavier hydrocarbon in feed gas and the lower J-T valve refrigeration temperature, the easier to remove mercury from gas. In J-T valve throttling refrigeration process, mercury can be strongly concentrated by ethylene glycol solution so that mercury content in dried gas can be reduced effectively. If mercury content in feed gas is less than a certain value, gas demercuration unit is not necessary. The study results have a certain practicality in optimization design of domestic demercuration units.
