Abstract:With rapid development of oversea projects, China National Petroleum Corporation has already built five oil and gas cooperative development areas in Africa, Middle-Asia (Russia), South America, Middle East and Pacific Asia in recent ten years and further exploitation and construction will last for a long period in the future. To avoid detours, it is necessary to summarize successful experience from ground engineering design in oversea oil and gas field projects, learn lessons from former failures and find out major problems existing in process, quality control and investment of such projects. Two major reasons leading to occurrence of these problems include incomplete comprehending on foreign codes, standards and specifications and imperfect understanding on local construction conditions. Analyzed are differences between application of international codes, standards and specifications in different countries, discussed is how to follow China national and international codes, standards and specifications appropriately and discussed are some solutions to ground engineering design problems existing in oversea oil and gas field development projects, which can provide valuable reference for future oversea engineering designs and management.
