Abstract: The areas where long-distance gas pipelines are laid have very complicated terrains. Gas pipelines are usually laid along slopes in mountainous or hilly areas and pipeline failures occur easily due to unequal forces applied on these pipelines resulting from great height difference of pipeline position. In order to study force distribution of the pipelines and check the accordance with relative design specifications and safety requirements, adopted is the stress analysis software CAESAR II to analyze the stress of certain pipeline laid along slope and research the loading conditions of the pipeline under its installation, pressure test and operating conditions and obtained is such result that pipeline laid along slope has higher safety. The analysis result has important engineering value and guiding significance and will provide relative theoretical basis for design and construction of pipelines laid along slope.
