    Study on Service Life of LNG Submersible Pump with Radial and Axial Flow

    Abstract:LNG submersible pump is one of indispensable dynamic equipment used in natural gas liquefaction process. Severe operating environments of such pump frequently result in difficult maintenance and high maintenance cost. Displacement probe installed near pump axle can determine pump axle track changes of LNG submersible pump with two kinds of diversion forms and real time data acquisition system in the pump can record pump axle tracks and wear of its bearings and axle bushings. Analysis on testing results show that pump axle tracks of radial flow LNG submersible pump are more stable than those of axial flow LNG submersible pump in different flow conditions, pump axle displacement tracks will not deviate from the pump shaft center and there is no unstable flow area in characteristic curve of radial flow LNG submersible pump. These characters result in smaller wear of bearings and axle bushings in radial flow LNG submersible pump than radial flow LNG submersible pump, which is beneficial to lengthen service life of such parts as bearings and axle bushings, lengthen maintenance cycle of LNG submersible pump and reduce its maintenance cost.
