Abstract:In order to relieve the pressure of an imported crude oil pipeline in operation at full-load and improve the response capacity of the pipeline in case of emergency working conditions, conducted is an industrial test on the pipeline, that is, a certain amount of EP drag reduction agent (DRA) is added into each oil transport pump station to reduce pipeline operation pressure and increase its transportation capacity. Test results show that injection of 10ppm DRA can increase oil transportation capacity by about 14 %. On the base of industrial test, DRA is practically applied in industry. In practical application, pipeline transportation capacity can be increased by 15 % if 10ppm DRA is injected in constant outlet pressure condition and pipeline friction loss can be decreased by 16 % with constant pipeline transportation capacity. The practical application results show that DRA injection can not only increase pipeline transportation capacity, but also reduce pipeline friction, which can reduce pipeline operation risk greatly and improve the response capacity of the pipeline in case of emergency working conditions.
