Abstract:Gas pipelines laid in high slopes are prone to overstressing or large displacement. Based on the software CAESAR II, a pipeline stress analysis model is established by 3D beam model combined with Stress Intensification Factor. In the model, pipe-soil friction and upward support force are considered as the soil constraint. Conducted is comparison among three different simplified boundary Conditions and determined is the fixed constraint boundary with horizontal extension segment on both sides of the slope pipelines. Combined with four loading conditions, such as working condition of water pressure test and so on and based on the ASME B31.8, stress check methods are proposed for various working conditions and analysis and calculation results show that the most dangerous stress position is located at the convergence between the top of the upward pipeline and the slope base platform and the largest displacement occurs probably at the top of the longest and steepest slope, which proves that the stress calculation model and check methods are feasible.
