Abstract:  At present, power generation by using LNG cold energy is an important measure for energy saving and consumption reducing in oil and gas industry. However, the technology also has many problems to be solved. Reviewed are many domestic and international literatures on cold energy power generation technology, summarized are 6 kinds of current LNG cold energy power generation principles, including direct expansion method, secondary media method, combination method, mixed media power generation method, Brayton cycle method and gas turbine  method and comparative analysis is conducted on their advantages and disadvantages and adaptability and results show that Brayton cycle power generation has the highest efficiency, up to 55 %; the secondary media has the lowest single working medium, only 18 %. Direct expansion method has low cold energy utilization efficiency, only 24 %, but its principle is simple and high efficient Brayton cycle method has a requirement for cooler temperature. The secondary media method, combination method and gas turbine method have strong applicability and less restrictive conditions and are worth promoting. Finally, some suggestions are proposed for increasing domestic LNG cold energy efficiency.
