    Abstract:

Rotating packed bed (RPB) is a kind of equipment which can intensify gas-liquid mass transfer by utilizing strong centrifugal force to prompt gravity g to magnify. Theories and models describing gas-liquid absorption process in conventional packing contact tower are basically not suitable for RPB. Even a lot of researches have been conducted in recent years, but up to now its practical application is very limited. Experimental data show that as a kind of intensified mass transfer equipment, RPB is not suitable for TEG deep dehydration of purified gas and selective desulfurization of feed gas. It is a good idea to replace selective desulfurization tower with RPB in SCOT tail gas treatment to reduce CO2 co-absorption rate, but lean solution quality and solution temperature must be strictly controlled. At present, such two kinds of risks way exist in PRB commercial application as real risks and potential risks. The former mainly results from reliability of rotating equipment, including stability of seal, bearings and rotor and the latter mainly results from lack of deep understanding in principle of transfer processes.
