    Effect of Test Conditions on Oil Pour Point Test Results

    Abstract:

    Through test on pour point of oil products under different conditions, investigated is the relation between pour point and such test conditions test temperature interval, preheating temperature, heating history, expected pour point, initial test temperature and temperature gradient. Tilt test principle is followed in the test, that is, test tube is tilted to observe specimen mobility along with temperature drop and the lowest temperature at which specimen can flow is recorded as its pour points. Test results show that test conditions have so obvious effect on pour points that different value of pour points obtained in different conditions can exceed 7. Test temperature interval has no obvious effect on pour points, and heating history and temperature gradient have obvious effect on pour points.
