Abstract:As unconventional gases play an important role in global oil and gas exploration, development and transaction gradually, the reserve of unconventional gases has caused the extensive concern of the world. Therefore, how to calculate unconventional gas reserve becomes a spotlight. Up to now, development of unconventional gases can only be found in tight sand gas, coal bed methane and shale gas reservoirs. Geological and producing characteristics of unconventional gas reservoirs are different from conventional ones, and each type of unconventional gas has distinct characteristics, which leads to exclusive problems emerging in unconventional gas reserve evaluation. Conducted is comparative analysis on unconventional gas reserve evaluation methods used in overseas development projects and analysis results show that dynamic method and static method used in unconventional gas reserve evaluation have respective disadvantages and reliable and reasonable reserve evaluation results can be obtained only when the dynamic evaluation method is combined with the static evaluation method.
