Present Situation and Prospect of Oil and Natural Gas Industry Development in Kazakhstan

Abstract：Kazakhstan possesses rich oil and gas resources and its oil and gas industry has developed rapidly in recent years. In order to make clear oil and gas export scale from Kazakhstan in the future and oil and gas cooperation prospects between Kazakhstan and China, it is necessary to analyze and research history, present situation and prospect of Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry development. Research results show that Kazakhstan’s oil and gas production will increase further in the future, oil production will reach 1.18 x 10⁸t and natural gas production will reach 612 x 10⁴m³ in 2030 (including production of coal bed methane and other unconventional gas), its energy exporter status will be further consolidated. Oil export scale will reach 1.18 x 10⁸t and natural gas will be mainly supplied to domestic users, with small export scale. China and Kazakhstan are close neighbor, energy sources of the two counties have high complementarity and oil and gas cooperation between two counties has a broad prospect.
