Abstract:In order to reduce potential safety hazard and energy consumption of pipeline operation in winter, certain western crude oil pipeline company has taken a series of measures in optimizing operational environment and improving oil properties, such as shifting batch transportation to blending transportation of four crude oils, starting heat furnace at initial station instead of that of each heating stations and decreasing output temperature from 50-55°C to 35-40°C (by waste heat recovery). The advantages of blending transportation and recovery of waste heat are concluded through comparing blending transportation with batch transportation and comparing heat medium exchanger with oil-oil heat exchanger. These measures are beneficial to safe pipeline operation in winter (increasing safety margin of pipeline shutdown time thus avoiding abnormal fluctuation of freezing point), and can greatly reduce pipeline energy consumption. In particular, blending transportation of four kinds of oils can also provide a theoretical support for transporting crude oil by pipeline at normal temperature in winter.
