Abstract:Described are misoperation and inaction occurring in accident state of block valves in gas pipeline, introduced are threshold setting of block valves used commonly in large diameter gas pipeline and common methods for threshold setting of block valves in domestic engineering design, listed are some problems occurring frequently in practical application of block valves and analyzed are reasons for these problems. Applied is the engineering software TGNET to simulate the working condition of leakage, obtained and compared are pressure drop values and pressure drop rates of block valves respectively according to location of different leakage points and the change of pipeline throughput, proposed are the optimum method for threshold setting of block valves, further illustrated is the significance and effect of block valves for ensuring safe pipeline operation and it is concluded that threshold value of block valves shall be reasonably reduced according to pressure drop values at different locations and variable working conditions of block valves.
