    Abstract:

Odor sulfides in sour gas field will not only pollute the environment, but also may cause damage to mental and physical health of operators, so it is important to study the properties of these gases. Analyzed are physical properties of such typical odor sulfides as hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, methanethiol (ME), dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) in the process of sour gas field production, researched are physiological effects and hazards, odor thresholds and occupational exposure limit values and studied is the relationship of concentration of environmental standards in China with such odor thresholds and the occupational exposure limit values. The analysis and study results show that a certain amount of bad odor existing around any pollutant discharging unit is allowable by the Chinese national environmental standard only if its concentration meets relative requirements specified in the Chinese national environmental standard and has no harm to physical health. The research achievement is useful to understand the stench sulfide characteristics and prevent occupational hazards.
