    Abstract：Based on the frequent tank incident, the idea of referring foreign standard to improve domestic standard was raised. Foreign standard were studied in view of fire safety and cleaning of tank, yet with few on Australian pipeline and tank standard. The paper introduced Australian tank operation and management standard AS 4971-2008, with the difference between Australian and Chinese standard compared in detail, including strengthening regulation on lank routine inspection and inspection for tank auxiliary facilities. Finally, the suggestion of adopting AS 2885.5-2012 to improve domestic tank operation and management standard was made.
