Abstract:In order to study the causes of the LNG refrigerant compressor start-up failure and its influencing factors, a node analysis has been done based on several on-site start-up records of three compressors and comprehensive comparison of start-up scheme, power, process, equipment, instrumentation and other aspects. Suggestions have been put forward based on the summary to obtain the basis for successful initial operation. The results showed that vibration control is the key among many influences on compressor start-up failure. The optimized scheme is to find an equilibrium point between temperature and vibration, and properly reduce the compressor body temperature. When the outlet temperature rises, the vibration can be declined, forming a virtuous circle system. Finally, compressor can be started successfully by catching the right time for speed rise through smooth operation.
