Abstract:In order to assure the safety of pigging operation, risk analysis and precautionary measures should be taken. Pinghu offshore oil & gas field's 14-inch (1 inch=25.4mm) natural gas subsea pipeline's pigging project was taken as an example, possible risks mainly concentrated on the line itself and its accessories, loading liquids, pigs, human, removed dirt, natural environment, etc. Corresponding measures were proposed, including carefully reviewing pipeline information files, replacing relevant equipments, installing anti-blocking devices, predicting volume of loading liquid, choosing reasonable pigs, progressive pigging, conducting special training, avoiding extreme weather, etc.
