Abstract:A long distance gravity and pressure water transfer pipeline with the length of 70 km and maximum elevation difference of 210 m had been designed under allowable topographic condition. Without power source like pumps, the start joint is higher than the end joint of this system and the system design pressure is 2.5MPa. Due to the lack of power system for water lifting, and to keep the system operating at stable status, the worst operating situation had been analyzed by the software KYPIPE, the highest surge happened at the end joint of this system, which reached to the head of 355.34 m (1 m water head column = 9.8 kPa), while the lowest pressure happened at the start joint of this system, which reached to water evaporation pressure point of -10 m. A surge relief valve had been designed at the end joint of this system and 31 air valves were settled along with this pipeline to guarantee safe operation.
