Abstract:For the characteristics of large scale, complicated process and long construction period of offshore oil & gas engineering project, the establishment of an effective progress measurement system is the key for project progress control. Weight, as a quantitative indicator to measure the importance of activity or process to the whole project, is an important part of progress measurement system, and also the important factor for progress measurement system to truly reflect the actual project progress. To accurately assign the weight for project WBS and work in ocean oil & gas engineering project, the general principle for weight assigning and the method for assigning at each stage were analyzed according to project work breakdown structure by step. A method of offshore engineering in weight assigning has been put forward with project progress, resource investment, workload and owner’ s requirements taken into account. The aid of software in schedule planning is also suggested if necessary.
