    Abstract:

Air intake filtration system is an important equipment to protect compressor blades and gas turbine, but its significance in the design and operation stage is often overlooked. This paper presents the analysis on the harmful effect of air pollutants on gas turbine and the influence of air intake filtration system on the safe operation of the gas turbine and the reasoning behind the influence; and explains how the characteristics of the air intake filter and filter materials determine the performance of the filtration system. The main problems and causes of the current operation of the intake filtration system are identified based on the actual operating experience of domestic gas-fired power plants. The influence of the pressure drop in the air intake filtration system on the actual performance of the gas turbine is calculated. Finally, the experimental results of moisture tolerance and static elimination on the air intake filter are analyzed. As a rectification measure, it is proposed to impose enhanced sampling tests during procurement of the filtration system, and strictly implement standard tests on antistatic and moisture tolerance performance according to the standard EN 779 - 2012, to guarantee the expected performance of air intake filtration system and the safe and highly efficient operation of the gas turbine.
