Abstract:To deal with various complex conditions, magnetic flux leakage testing technology (MFL) is widely adopted in petrochemical equipment inspection due to its advantages such as simple principle, easy to implement, high detection rate, accurate defect positioning, and easy to develop suitable tooling. In order to summarize the previous research and application of MFL, the advantages of MFL and other nondestructive testing technology in practical application are compared, starting from the principle of MFL. In this paper the research direction of MFL is briefly introduced and the typical application cases of MFL in the detection of petrochemical equipment in the past decade are listed, including equipment such as pressure vessels, pressure pipelines, boilers and vertical storage tanks. In addition, some tooling are described in detail and mutual verification methods between MFL and other detection technologies are also explained. Based on the above, and incorporating field detection experiences, this paper proposes the development trend of MFL application which can provide a reference for scientific research and inspection work.
