    Abstract:

Subsea production system is becoming more and more widely used in the developing offshore oil and gas industry, with increasing tieback water depth and distance. Deeper water and longer distance has brought significant flow assurance problems, such as hydrate formation, slugging, sand production, erosion, corrosion, etc. Therefore, it is important to select and optimize proper flow assurance strategies at production stage, according to the actual needs of production operations. This paper analyzed potential flow assurance risks of deepwater subsea tieback system, based on basic data and typical working conditions of deepwater gas fields such as LW 3-1. This paper put forward flow assurance operations and management strategies from the perspectives of determining operating envelop, hydrate formation risk control, control of rate of change in flowrate, subsea tieback mode switch, as well as maximising application of flow management system. To the end, several specific suggestions are made to optimize production operations. This research results can provide references for safe and efficient production of subsea tieback system in similar deepwater gas fields such as LW 3-1.
