    Analysis on static leakage test procedure of dry gas seal for centrifugal compressor

    Abstract:In order to provide ideas for the static leakage test of the complete machine in the compressor manufacturing plant, the static leakage test plans of the dry gas seal of centrifugal compressors in the petroleum, chemical and gas industries were analyzed. By comparing the requirements for the static leakage test of the dry gas seal body and the static leakage test of the fully assembled centrifugal compressor in different industry standards, the focus and rigour of the static tests in these standards are analyzed. Combined with the actual experience of compressor manufacturers, according to different types of dry gas seal structures, we provide compressor manufacturers with a static leakage test plan for dry gas seals for centrifugal compressors that is operable and meets standard requirements. Through analysis, it is found that the current latest version of standard API 692 Dry gas sealing systems for axial,centrifugal,rotary screw compressors and expanders is very rigorous and has very clear requirements for testing, which can completely guide centrifugal compressor manufacturers to conduct static leakage tests between dry gas seals and compressors. At the same time, suggestions are given to the issues that are not clearly specified in the standard but require attention in the design stage. The results can provide guidance to dry gas seal and centrifugal compressor manufacturers in conducting static leakage tests.
