    Abstract:

With the normalization of COVID-19 prevention and control, the restrictions in different regions of the world starts to relax gradually and the economic activities begin to revive. As a result, the global energy consumption has increased significantly. In order to meet the challenges of global energy transition, the latest bp Statistical Review of World Energy 2022 was studied and analyzed. The analysis results show that:1)global primary energy consumption rebounded significantly in 2021, increasing by nearly 6%; 2)carbon emissions increased by 5.7%, coming close to the level of 2019, which reversed the sharp decline in energy consumption in most parts of the world during the COVID19 pandemic in 2020; 3)global oil consumption rose by 5.342 million barrels in 2021, but production was at its lowest level since 1998; 4)global natural gas demand grew by 5.3% in 2021, returning to pre-COVID-19 level; 5)coal consumption grew by more than 6% in 2021, with consumption matching production level; 6)renewable energy grew 15% in 2021, more than any other fuel type in that year. The study results are expected to provide reference for energy development in the future.
