    Abstract:

With the wide application of horizontal directional drilling technology, the method of multiple connections-pullback, primarily referring to those involving dozens of connections, is crucial in addressing the issue of spatial constraints at the drilling site. Nonetheless, this method does come with its own set of limitations. By analyzing and comparing various engineering examples, this paper aims to highlight the differences and technical challenges between multiple connectionspullback and traditional pullback methods in the context of horizontal directional drilling. This paper also proposes potential countermeasures, offering theoretical references and successful experiences for future projects of the same nature. The multiple connectionspullback method is suitable for application under stable formation conditions such as bedrock. Each process must be closely connected, and the suspension time of pullback should be minimized to ensure a successful construction process. When combined with methods such as pipelaying ship and support frames for pipe sending, the multiple connectionspullback method holds significant promise for widespread applications.
