    Abstract:

The sustainable and well-regulated development of the natural gas helium extraction industrial chain is crucial, as it relates to the security of helium resource supply. China needs to accelerate the development of a robust helium industrial chain to ensure a stable supply of helium for the country. The development status of natural gas helium extraction industrial chain, including crude helium extraction, crude helium purification, helium liquefaction, and helium storage and transportation has been analyzed and studied. The study concluded that China has achieved advanced international standard in terms of the overall technical benchmarks for crude helium extraction, crude helium purification and gas helium storage and transportation. However, there remains a gap when compared to the advanced international standard in the large-scale equipment used for helium liquefaction and the storage and transportation of liquid helium. To develop a technically mature, robust and fully equipped natural gas helium extraction industrial chain, it is imperative to expedite the development and application of helium separation membranes, large-scale helium liquefiers, and large liquid helium tanks. Additionally, strengthening the development of related code and standards and regulatory frameworks within the helium industry is essential, along with advocating for the laws to protect helium resources.
