    Abstract:

Chinas offshore oil and gas industry is currently in a critical period of increasing reserves and production. However, issues such as the poor environmental resistance, long service life, insufficient equipment capacity, and poor safety of old mobile drilling platform in the eastern South China Sea seriously restrict Chinas advancement into deep and distant sea areas. It is urgent to address the problem of updating and replacing mobile drilling rig. Therefore, this paper analyzes the environmental resistance and main/auxiliary dual wellhead operation mode of intelligent medium-to-deep water drilling rigDeep Blue Explorer, summarizes its efficient operation in multiple domestic wells, and compares it with the operational efficiency of old mobile drilling rigs. The comparison results show that the SLTS drilling rig can withstand up typhoons up to category 16 and has strong operational capacity to resist the harsh environment during typhoon seasons and winter monsoons in the eastern South China Sea. The main/auxiliary dual wellhead operation mode can achieve simultaneous operation at both wellheads, improving overall operational efficiency by about 15% compared to conventional single wellhead modes. The research results provide reference for the selection of drilling rigs when introducing medium-to-deep water drilling platforms in the eastern oil fields of the South China Sea, helping to promote the manufacturing and application of safe, efficient, and environmentally resistant highend equipment.
