Abstract:
Under the dual-carbon
goals(carbon peak and carbon neutrality), China faces the challenge of high
total carbon emissions and a significant demand for carbon reduction. As a key
supporting technology for carbon reduction, Carbon Capture, Utilization and
Storage(CCUS) holds great potential for future industrial development. At
present, driven by national policies and the active participation of
enterprises, China has obtained practical experience in implementing CCUS
projects. However, compared with European and American countries, there remains
a notable gap in terms of technological advancement and industrial scale.
Additionally, relevant policies, regulations and codes and standards system
require further improvement. This paper reviews China's carbon emission status, CCUS demonstration
projects, technological development across various segments, industrial
policies, carbon market management, and existing challenges. It also analyzes
the emission reduction demand, geological storage potential and sourcesink matching for CCUS in China, and proposes a
phased development framework for the CCUS industry. This paper provides
management measures and policy recommendations to guide the future growth of
CCUS industrial development.
