EPCC(Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning) is a comprehensive project management approach and a widely recognized international model for project contracting, which has been increasingly applied in overseas petrochemical development projects. In the EPCC contracting model, the management and execution of commissioning work plays an important role, serving as a pivotal link for successful project delivery. In engineering projects, rotating equipment, characterized by its diverse types and substantial quantities, plays an important role in commissioning activities. In overseas EPCC projects, commissioning can be divided into two main stages as pre-commissioning and commissioning. This study analyzes and discusses the main scope of work and management modes for these two stages, clarifies the commissioning arrangements for rotating equipment during each stage, and outlines the management model and operational workflows for rotating equipment commissioning. By integrating the requirements of API 686 Recommended practice for machinery installation and installation design, this study summarizes the commissioning procedures for major rotating equipment. This approach effectively optimizes the efficiency of rotating equipment commissioning and provides valuable references for enhancing commissioning practices for rotating equipment under the overseas EPCC projects.
