    Application of Safety Instrumented System (SIS) in High Sour Gas Field

    Abstract: Puguang Gas Field is an especially large integrated marine gas field in China so far, which has such features as the largest scale and highest H2S and CO2 concentration. Because of highly toxic and highly corrosivity of H2S, application of the safety instrumented system(SIS) to H2S detection is crucial for normal production of the gas field and the safety of surrounding residents. Since Puguang Gas Field was put into production more than two years ago, its SIS system operates properly, which ensures that the gas gathering and transportation system in the field operates safely and smoothly. Introduced are composition, structure and function of the SIS system in Puguang Gas Field, systematically summarized is the experience in its field operation and management, objectively analyzed are effects of the system in fire and gas monitoring, logic shutdown, etc., which will provide reference for application of SIS system in high sour gas fields and has important guiding significance for safe development of such gas fields in the future.
